Error: Document Cancellation is Not Possible

Important: It is possible to cancel documents in SAP Business One, but remember to do so carefully as it may affect the financials, stock levels and more.

If you try to cancel a document in SAP Business One, you may get the following error. Below is an explanation of the error message.

Cancellation is not possible; posting date exceeds limit of X days allowed for cancellation

This error occurs because the document date is outside the range allowed for cancelling documents. This range is defined under Administration > System Initialization > Document Settings. 

Note: This does not apply to Order, Quotation or Purchase Request. You can setup a valid date in these documents. 

For Sales Orders, there is default cancellation period defined under Administration > System Initialization > Document Settings > Per Document tab > Document: Sales Order. You can adjust this so that a customer can cancel the order without consequences.
